Institutional History And Accreditation
¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ was founded in 1900 as the American College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. The school became the Chicago College of Osteopathy before renaming again to Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1970. The college moved from its original location in Chicago to Downers Grove, Illinois, in 1983. With the founding of additional colleges, the institution was unified under the new name of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ in 1993, with the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine continuing as a founding college. The campus in Glendale, Arizona, was opened in 1996.
¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission (230 South LaSalle Street, Suite 7-500, Chicago, IL 60604-1413; 800-621-7440; ).
Please refer to the specific college sections of the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Course Catalog for further information on program and professional accreditation.

Preclinical, clinical blocks, rotations, and reflective portfolio courses which do not conform to these quarters are indicated separately on the transcript.

Course credit is expressed in quarter credit units.
Grades, Codes, and Interpretations
Grade Point Calculation
All colleges and programs are graded on an A-F 4.0 grading scale. Multiply each course credit by the numeric value of the grade awarded to calculate quality points ("QPTS"). Divide the quality points by the calculated credits earned ("earned") to calculate GPA.
Grade | Current Value | Value Before 2008 |
---|---|---|
A | 4.00 | 4.00 |
A- | 3.67 | 3.75 |
B+ | 3.33 | 3.25 |
B | 3.00 | 3.00 |
B- | 2.67 | 2.75 |
C+ | 2.33 | 2.25 |
C | 2.00 | 2.00 |
D | 1.00 | 1.00 (for CPG/B.B.S. only, prior to 2012) |
F | 0.00 | 0.00 |
Exception: Students matriculated prior to September 2003 in the Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM and CCOM) were graded on a numeric scale of zero to 100. These students' GPAs are reported on this 100-point scale and are not reportable on the 4.0-point scale.
